Tigre Uno then climbs out of the ring and out on the apron. E.Y. turns his back and is yelling at the crowd as Tigre Uno springboards into the ring and the match is underway.

E.Y. immediately bails to the outside. Back in the ring, Tigre hits a hurricanrana. E.Y. takes control of the match back with a chop. He leapfrogs Tigre and the X-Division champion comes back with a chop of his own.

E.Y. doesn’t seem too affected by it, and he rolls to the outside. Tigre Uno comes flying off the apron with a hurricanrana on the outside. He rolls E.Y. back into the ring and connects with a flying wishbone legdrop off the top. Now both men are on the turnbuckle. Tigre hits a hurricanrana off the top but E.Y. again kicks out at two.

Impact Wrestling Results (12/9/15): Bobby Lashley vs. Mahabali Shera

ORLANDO, Fla. — Mahabali Shera slams Bobby Lashley with a clothesline right at the start of the bell and he looks very aggressive to start the match, which is the exact opposite you would expect if you were watching this show for the first time and watched his ring walk.

Shera whips Lashley to the turnbuckle and follows with a splash in the corner and then goes to choke Lashley.

Shera climbs to the second rope in front of Lashley and instead of attacking, begins dancing. Lashley throws him to the mat and immediately takes control of the match, choking Shera on the second rope.

Lashley hits a bodyslam and goes for a cover, but Shera kicks out at two.

12/2/15 Impact Wrestling Results: Eric Young vs. Kenny King

ORLANDO, Fla. — Young and King lockup to start the match. King with good speed and athleticism with some hip tosses coming out of the lock up but Young quickly regains control with a side headlock and then a shoulder tackle off the ropes.

King looks really good in the early portion of this match; better than he has in some of the round-robin matches. King is quick to land a kick on Young in the corner and then a back elbow. King remains in control with some punches in the corner.

Young snags the rope and catapults King to the outside. Young goes back into the ring looking for a count-out win but King rolls back in at six. E.Y. immediately jumps on him with some elbows and then tosses him back to the outside.

King climbs back on the apron and Young tries to force him back to the outside with some punches but King hits a side kick to the head. King goes up top but E.Y. cuts him off and sends him crashing to the floor on the outside.

E.Y. lands some kicks and again rolls Kenny King to the outside, looking for the count-out win.

King again climbs up to the apron and Eric Young tries to land some right hands. Now King on the apron catapults E.Y. to the outside in an impressive fashion, as Young flew high in the air over the top rope. King follows it with a dive off the apron on the outside of the ring.

King rolls E.Y. in the ring and hits a springboard crossbody. King goes for a rollup but Young kicks out at two. E.Y. rakes King’s eyes but King hits a spinebuster for a two count.

Pope wonders if King was able to see where he was and if he got all of the spinebuster. King has E.Y. on his shoulders but he pulls himself off with the referee as leverage and then hits King with a piledriver for the win.

WINNER: Eric Young via pinfall.

Round of 16 Preview: Matt Hardy vs. Bobby Roode

ORLANDO, Fla. — In what might be the biggest match of the Round of 16, #1 Matt Hardy takes on #6 Bobby Roode, who is also the reigning King of the Mountain Champion, on tonight’s Impact Wrestling.

Hardy and Roode have a deep mutual respect. Roode is a TNA original and has been one of the top heavyweights for the past several years. Hardy stormed onto the scene and instantly became a force in that division, winning his first World Title in October before relinquishing it thanks to an injunction by ECIII, which setup this entire tournament.

Roode is also a former World Champion.

“Of course I want the title back,” he said. “This has been a grueling tournament and I’m sure that this will be a grueling match with one of the best in the business today, Matt Hardy.”

Hardy has been more focused during this tournament than at any point in his career.

“I’ve already proven to the world that I’m a World Champion,” he said on Wednesday. “This tournament proves who is the very best. If this is how I have to prove it, this is how I’ll prove it.

“Bobby Roode is an incredible wrestler and I know this is going to be a huge test.”

Prediction — Matt Hardy. Hardy is on an absolute mission right now. He has been more efficient in his matches than at any other point in his singles career, at least. Coming out of his group undefeated, his confidence is also at an all-time high.

Round of 16 Preview: Awesome Kong vs. Jessie Godderz

ORLANDO, Fla. — At least from a reporter’s perspective, this Awesome Kong vs. Jessie Godderz match is a match of varying styles, when it comes to the media.

Kong entered the Impact Zone on Wednesday morning without a single word to reporters, as is her usual. She glared at the media for a second, and then went back to not making eye contact.

There’s no questioning her intensity and focus.

Then there’s Godderz, who never feels embarrassed in front of a camera of a recorded.

“This is going to be fun tonight,” he said. “I’m going to have some real fun tonight. But more importantly, I’m here to prove something. I read the internet, I see all the keyboard warriors talk about how Kong can beat a man and I’ve read all the stuff this week about how Kong can beat me. Me? Jessie Godderz? I don’t think so.

“When I’m done, I’m going to make sure the world knows that she belongs where she belongs, and that’s in the Knockout’s Division … or in my kitchen.”

Prediction — Awesome Kong. Kong does her talking in the ring. Jessie has a real future in TNA if he can get his attitude in check, which is something you could say for more young athletes. I don’t expect it to be a short match, but a very physical match, which Kong loves.

Round of 16 Preview: Eric Young vs. Kenny King

ORLANDO, Fla. — Eric Young walked into the Impact Zone on Wednesday morning with a purpose. Prepping for his match tonight against Kenny King, Young was as intense as he’s ever been as he headed to the training room to get in a morning workout prior to the match tonight.

“I am going to show the world why Kenny King doesn’t belong in the same ring with me,” he said. “No one is going to stop me on my way to winning the TNA World Title. I don’t just want to win these matches, I want to hurt people. I want to end careers.”

We also caught up with King as he made his way into the Impact Zone to meet with his camp for a morning meeting.

“Eric Young is a great wrestler but so am I,” he said. “I’m confident going into every match and I’m confident going into tonight.”

Prediction — Eric Young. He’s been a maniac throughout the World Title Series and seems destined to get through to the quarterfinals. Kenny King advanced in Group Wildcard over Crazzy Steve and Aiden O’Shea, which isn’t nearly as impressive as the group Young advanced through. King’s only loss was to Mahabali Shera

Young advanced out of Group TNA Originals, beating Bobby RoodeAbyss and James Storm. While they weren’t the cleanest of victories, a win is a win in the record books.

Round of 16 Preview: D.J. Z vs. Ethan Carter III

ORLANDO, Fla. — Ethan Carter III looks to remain undefeated tonight on Impact Wrestling when he faces X-Division competitor D.J. Z in the Round of 16 of the World Title Series.

D.J. Z’s Key to Victory — There is no question that D.J. Z’s best chance to win this match is to simply out-hustle ECIII. He’s faster, and he needs to use that speed. If he doesn’t, he’s in trouble. A fast-paced attack and a quick match plays into D.J. Z’s hands here. The longer the match goes, the more it favors ECIII. D.J. Z needs to attack this match the same way boxers used to attack Mike Tyson back in the ’90s. Come out swinging and hope for the best. But also, stick and move. I believe we’ll see D.J. Z use the air as much as he can.

ECIII’s Keys to Victory — In this matchup, ECIII is better on the mat and he’s stronger than D.J. Z. The only area where ECIII is at a disadvantage is in speed and in aerial attacks. ECIII is good enough to withstand a fast-paced onslaught from D.J. Z at the start of the match, assuming D.J. Z comes out swinging, and then wear him down later in the match.

Prediction — ECIII. He’s undefeated for a reason, folks. I think D.J. Z is going to show you some things you didn’t expect in this match, but love him or hate him, ECIII is just too good.

Round of 16 Preview: Tigre Uno vs. Gail Kim

ORLANDO, Fla. — In one of the more interesting matches slated for tonight’s Impact Wrestling, TNA Knockouts Champion Gail Kim takes on TNA X-Division Champion Tigre Uno in a Round of 16 match. This won’t be the first time they’ve been in the ring together. At a One Night Only: Joker’s Wild event earlier this year, Gail teamed with Sonjay Dutt to take on Manik and Uno.

Gail advanced with Awesome Kong out of Group Knockouts while Tigre Uno advanced out of Group X-Division, qualifying out of a three-way tie-breaker last week.

Gail’s Key to Victory — The male-female dynamic aside, this could be a good matchup for Gail. Her style is similar to Tigre’s. Kong, for instance, might have a tougher time against someone like Tigre, who could neutralize her size and power with his speed and athleticism. Gail is as fast as they come in the Knockouts Division.

Tigre Uno’s Keys to Victory — It’s a unique situation for Tigre in this match. As a guy who generally relies on his speed, against the smaller Gail Kim, he needs to rely on his strength advantage here. In fact, this might be one of the first matches in his entire TNA career where Tigre has a strength advantage. That said, he’s also not going to be any slower, and I’d expect to see Gail push the pace and try to surprise Tigre with some early pinfall attempts.

Prediction — Tigre Uno. No offense to Gail, but the speed here is a wash. Ultimately, for me, it comes down to Tigre’s advantage in strength if the match evolves into something on the mat.
